Sridevi's nervous ramp trip

She might come across as the picture of grace in our first picture here, but Sridevi had a tough time on the catwalk - as you'll see from the second picture. The star, who walked the ramp for Neeta Lulla as the show stopper at Lakme Fashion Week, came across as very nervous and saved herself twice from falling flat on the ramp.

The actress, who wore a silverish-grey body-fitting gown made an impressive entry on the ramp but soon her nervousness was revealed as she started struggling with the train of her dress.

But she still found the experience of walking the ramp quite pleasant. "It was great but at the same time very hard for me," she said.

Neeta was happy too and revealed: "It was fantastic that on my 25th anniversary Sridevi walked the ramp and so many people actually made it to the show."

When asked about the Sri's nervousness, Neeta said: "As far as I think, it happens some times when you walk the ramp after a long time."

Wishing Sri Devi a very happy birthday today, and you too can send in your wishes by posting them in below.

Sridevi paints Late Pop Legend Michael Jackson

Sridevi, who is a big fan of Michael Jackson, recently painted the late pop legend and studded his painted glove with crystals as his glove had them in real life. Prominent galleries believe that a painting of a legend done by a celebrity is very valuable and can fetch a good price. They are also discussing plans to auction a few of her paintings to help the underprivileged." The painting is expected to be showcased at exhibitions in Dubai, Mumbai and London. The Dubai exhibition is scheduled for next month.

Sridevi spotted at Juhu

Sridevi was seen entering a Juhu Scheme building where her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor lives late evening on Wednesday.

She was not visiting Sanjay but consulting Dr Himanshu Mehta at his eye clinic in the same building. Boney Kapoor's biwi has an eye infection and went there straight from an ad shoot.

Who had a 'candlelight' meeting with Sridevi?

And this director is disappointed that she's become a housewife

Ram Gopal Varma says he's a huge fan of yesteryears actress Sridevi, describing her as a "goddess of beauty", vividly recalling a "candlelight" meeting with her and noting that he wrote his Telugu film 'Kshana Kshanam' as an intended love letter to her.

"Sridevi is the most beautiful and the most sexiest woman god (has) ever created. I think He creates such exquisite pieces of art like her only once in a million years," Varma posted on his blog rgvzoomin.com.

The veteran filmmaker has posted a long message on his blog talking about Sridevi. He has written that in his college days in Vijaywada (in Andhra Pradesh), "I used to stand in the line waiting to buy a ticket for the new Sridevi movie and I used to keep staring in awe at her on the hoardings in the theatre compound."

"Her beauty and her sex appeal were so strong that it took many many films and many many years for both us audience and the film industry to realise and recognise the actress in her which was first showcased according to me in the most effective way in 'Mr. India' by Shekhar Kapur...'Mr. India' made the audience discover a new Sridevi primarily because of the way how Shekar Kapur's aesthetics captured both her extraordinary beauty and her incredible performance."

Varma says in Chennai, he used to stand in front of Sridevi's house to catch a glimpse of his favourite actress. Finally, after the success of his debut film 'Shiva', he got a chance to meet the woman he used to worship.

"At around 7.30 in the night we went and as luck would have it there was a power cut in her house. So I was sitting in her living room in candlelight along with Gopal Reddy waiting for the angel to appear and my heart was thumping like mad. Her mother told us she was busy packing as she was about to catch a flight to go to Mumbai.

"Finally, she came and sat in the living room, just said a mandatory few lines... I went back to my place feeling like I was in the seventh heaven.

"The way Sridevi sat in front of me in the candlelight got imprinted in my mind like an exquisite painting and with her image completely filling both my mind and my heart I started writing 'Kshana Kshanam'. I wrote 'Kshana Kshanam' with the one and only purpose so as to impress Sridevi. It was was intended by me as a love letter to her."

Varma was disappointed when Boney Kapoor married Sridevi and brought her "straight from her super stardom and magazine covers to being just an ordinary housewife".

"I don't go to Boney's house these days because I can't bear to see Sridevi in a realistic house, in a realistic atmosphere and with realistic people around. For me, she is like a highly precious diamond which should be seen only in beautiful settings or in exotic locations and only in the surroundings of cinematic brilliance," he wrote.

Sridevi to endorse Vanish washing powder

For all those who thought that if Anil Kapoor vanished in reel life in Mr. India, Sridevi did the same vanishing trick in real life, here's a piece of news that will really sound music to your ears!

After having ruled and reigned over everyone's hearts alike with her performances in the silver screen as well as giving a zillion FMCG products an image makeover ( read 'endorsing') the Queen Bee is back yet again...not to vanish this time round, but to endorse Vanish washing powder. Sources close to Bollywood Hungama confirmed the news saying, "It took slightly larger-than-usual time for the ad director to convince Sridevi to sign on the dotted line. But, once she was convinced then there was not looking back! She went all out to shoot for the ad and extended her full co-operation, something that she has always been known for".

Repeated attempts to contact Sridevi proved futile.

Sridevi to appear on ’10 Ka Dum’

She’ll be promoting husband Boney Kapoor’s film ‘Wanted’

Bollywood actress Sridevi will be seen in a rare appearance on Sony TV's game show "10 Ka Dum 2" hosted by Salman Khan. Her producer husband Boney Kapoor will also be there.

Sridevi, who has been on a stretched sabbatical from the arc lights, went on the show specially to promote her husband's upcoming film "Wanted". Releasing on Sept 18, the film stars Salman as the protagonist.

Sridevi, last seen in the 1999 Malayalam movie "Devaraagam", also made an exception for the sake of Salman with whom she featured in a number of projects including "Chandramukhi" and "Chand Ka Tukda". The last Hindi film she acted in was 1997 release "Kaun Sachcha Kaun Jhootha".

Boney and Sridevi will be joined by the film's lead actress Ayesha Takia and director Prabhudheva.

"Now we can all shamelessly promote our film 'Wanted'," said Salman.

The episode will be aired on Saturday (Sept 19) at 9 p.m.

Sridevi loves salads

Have you seen Sridevi recently? She’s looking fantabulous. Slim, svelte... almost ravishing.

But what does she eat? Salads, salads and more salads. We saw the actress recently at a birthday party piling her plate with salads and virtually no other food. Not only does the diva eat well, she also makes her daughters — Jahnvi and Khushi — eat healthy, too. So when she was filling their food plates, she had a healthy mix of salads plus a few goodies to make the girls happy. What about her husband Boney Kapoor? Well, Sri tries her level best to make Boney eat healthy as well. She has cut down on his chocolate consumption completely, and she has also asked him to give up his love for green chillies. Of course, she still can’t get Boney to live on salads and sprouts only, but at least she is instilling healthy eating habits in Boney, who is a typical Punjabi with a penchant for good food.

Aiyyo Amma, Sridevi is back

After a lambi Judaai also her last film with Anil Kapoor and Urmila Matondkar way back in 1997, Sridevi will now be seen on the big screen again.

Sridevi will play Hansika Motwani’s mother in the upcoming South film “Maappilai”. The film stars Dhanush in the male lead, he is the son in law of superstar Rajinikanth and is also known as the Tollywood remake king. Sridevi agreed to do the film as it is a remake of Rajnikanth’s film of the same title.

Soruces say, “The original film had a rich and arrogant mother-in-law who is despised throughout the film but director Suraaj had deleted those parts for his film as he doesn’t want to reflect Sridevi in a bad light for her comeback.”

There was also news that Shekhar Kapur who has penned the sequel to the blockbuster Mr. India has been convincing Sridevi to return to the sequel. Even husband Boney Kapoor had been working on Sri’s comeback and for now it seems like Sridevi is happy to be getting back to her roots.

You will be missed back here in B-town Sridevi.

Maappilai starts rolling by the end of October and will hit the screens by April 14, 2010.

I look better now: Sridevi

She is the irreplaceable lady superstar of Indian cinema. Bollywood’s all time favorite Queen Bee, Sridevi celebrated her 46th birthday last night (13th Aug) with her family.

And to make the occasion special Sri’s two pretty daughters Jahnavi, 12 and Khusi, 8 decorated the house. Getting away for a few minutes from the chaos of organizing a small birthday get-together, Sri excitedly informed us, “My daughters, I can see, have devoted the last two days planning out this day.
My husband has some grand plans, I assume. And all the excitement has rubbed onto me as well.”

So who all invited for this quiet celebration? “Right now it’s just family, but you never know. My family may just decide to spring a surprise for me,” she said delightedly.

Birthdays mean gifts galore. “I wouldn’t like to share what Boneyji has gifted me, but I can tell you that it’s something wearable.

It’s beautiful and I plan to wear it tonight. However, the gifts that are closest to my heart are those given by my daughters. They’ve been writing beautiful letters and making birthday cards for me every year. There’s nothing more special and memorable for me,” gushed the doting mother.

Birthdays are more than just cakes and candles for this lovely lady. “Before I married Boneyji, I religiously used to visit Tirupathi on my birthdays. Other than that, visiting orphanages and old age homes were my priorities, after which I used to return home and celebrate the day with my sisters. Those days were so beautiful and carefree”, recalls the Sadma actress fondly “But birthday celebrations have changed for me now. It’s more about spending time with family. They are special, because I feel complete with family.”

And maybe it’s this ‘completeness’ that makes her so beautiful even today. “I think I look better today than I did yesterday,” she confesses, “That’s because I am happy. I feel a positive energy around me all the time. It’s very important to be happy and stress free, otherwise you age faster than you can imagine.”

Happy Birthday to you Sri...

Sridevi to appear on '10 ka Dum'

He romanced her in Chaand Kaa Tukdaa way back in 1994 and now, she’s his producer. Salman Khan and Sridevi have always shared a good rapport.

So when Salman requested the reticent actress to make an appearance on his television show, 10 Ka Dum, she couldn’t refuse.

Insiders say that Sridevi and filmmaker husband Boney Kapoor spent close to five hours on the sets earlier this week and though portions of the show were meant to publicise their film Wanted - the emphasis was on the fantastic rapport between Salman and his former co-star.

Boney Kapoor, who is an ardent fan of Salman, said, “Sri has been asked to appear on Koffee with Karan, on Vir Sanghvi’s show and has also been invited by several other prominent talk show hosts. However, she politely refused the offers because she is shy. But when it came to appearing on Salman’s show, Sri didn’t have to be persuaded. Like me, she also shares a good rapport with Salman.”

Apart from acting, Sridevi and Salman also share another common interest - painting.

In fact, some of Salman’s paintings are put up in Kapoor’s residence alongside paintings by Sridevi. When Salman got to know about her talent, he requested Boney to sneak in two of her paintings to the sets of the show. Much to Sridevi’s surprise, Salman also showed her paintings to the viewers.

Sridevi and Boney Kapoor biggest collector of Salman Khan's paintings

Now Salman's Khan best buddy producer Sajid Nadiadwala will get jealous! Salman has gifted his Wanted producer Boney Kapoor two more paintings for his Lokhandwala flat. Salman had already given one of his paintings to Sridevi for her bungalow in Chennai. Nadiadwala has just one painting by Salman in his office.

A source reveals, "Salman is close to Boney and his son Arjun (who was dating his sister Arpita). There have been numerous occasions when Arjun has watched Salman paint and has told him to take it up seriously.

After the actor noticed Junior Kapoor's interest in art, he decided he would gift the Kapoors some of his work." Also Sridevi herself paints, and there are no more walls left to hang paintings!

Boney confirms receiving an original Salman Khan creation, "He has given Sridevi three paintings in total. Sri, who is an also an artist, had gifted him one of her paintings when he'd come out of Jodhpur jail last year.
When Salman was shooting in Chennai and visited Sridevi's bungalow for the first time, he gifted her a painting and later, when we shifted from our Juhu bungalow to Lokhandwala, he gifted us two paintings."

Boney has words of praise for his dost Salman. "We have known each other for the last 10 years. Every time Salman has managed to surprise me with his generosity and kindness. He did a cameo in my brother Sanjay Kapoor's film Sirf Tum for free. Salman's done No Entry and now he's in my next release, Wanted, which will release on August 7. He has always been a great friend to me and my brothers, Anil and Sanjay."
